Intelligent building technology from Gira

At the Radevormwald location, more than 1,000 Gira employees produce switches and socket outlets as well as system components for intelligent buldiging technology, e.g. devices for the KNX system. Using Gira design platforms, new technologies are merged with the electrical installation to become part of the Gira switch systems.

As a founding member of the EIBA - from which the KNX Assocation later emerged - Gira has contributed significantly in developing building system technology in Germany. This technology is the prerequisite for equipping buildings "intelligently". Many building functions are already being controlled automatically today. Heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, sensors, actuators, operating elements, devices and other technical units are linked in multi-functional systems. Internet connections can also be established via IP interfaces, and it it possible to monitor and control all Gira building technology while away using an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

Gira has become a solution provider for modern building technology used to make living and working more secure, convenient and energy-efficient. The KNX system and its multi-functional interfaces open up nearly unlimited possibilities for building owners, renovators, planners and architects. However, even while doing so, operating complex products must remain simple and intuitive for people of all ages - including children and the elderly. Intelligent systems are helpful in everyday life, for example when they assume control functions, think for themselves, recognise their surroundings and respective situations and automatically trigger the correct reaction. In addition, the systems should be flexible and able to adapt easily to new requirements and needs.

Gira products are generally suitable for residential and commercial constructions, new constructions, renovation and restoration. They are marketed exclusively via the specialist trade.
