EEBUS has developed from a funding project to a marketable technical standard. Its high degree of acceptance on the market, but also by national and international policymakers, major industrial associations and global platforms, shows that the EEBUS vision works in reality.

2012

  • EEBus Initiative e.V. is founded as the result of the E-ENERGY lighthouse project
    funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economics at the Hannover Messe
  • Association opens an office in Brussels to communicate at EU level

2013

  • Debut at the IFA with many companies and various scenarios for smart connectivity based on EEBUS

2014

  • One Europe, one language, one smart home: Amsterdam Pact, among others with Agora and Energy@home, to develop a common data model and closer cooperation with the EU Commission

2015

  • Global cooperation with the OCF (Open Connectivity Foundation) in the US
  • First plugfest to test prototypes for interoperability
  • The EEBUS IP transmission protocol SHIP (Smart Home IP) is released

2016

  • Release of the open standard SPINE is made available to companies free of charge
  • Introduction of the first serial devices which are available worldwide at the IFA
  • SAREF, the Smart Appliances REFerence of the European Commission, uses EEBUS for energy-efficient Smart Home
  • Global cooperation with the Thread Group

2017

  • Opening of the EEBUS Innovation Space in the Global IBM Watson Center in Munich
  • Smart Heating speaks EEBUS: successful market launch at the ISH, the world’s leading HVAC trade fair
  • First automotive plugfest connects e-mobility and Smart Home
