Neutral Messages (SPINE) as a bridge between the sectors
The success of smart energy and smart home / building systems largely depends on the system’s interoperability. Interoperability has to be understood here in terms of an identical understanding of messages and data that are exchanged between the respective markets and devices. The distinction between exchanged data of an energy management function or a comfort function becomes secondary, as the boundaries of both scenarios are flowing into one another.
Within our working groups we therefore specified in specific use cases common and technology neutral data models (neutral messages = SPINE Smart Premises Interoperable Neutral-message Exchange), that are bridging the varying domains and sectors. The data models are specified in the SPINE Specification 1.0.
Thereby an interoperability becomes possible, that works cross-domain without that the existing domain specific technologies have to interfere in a new domain.
Use SPINE as the exchange format of your interface to other market participants.
