The metering point operator Osthessen Netz has taken a decisive step towards controlling the low-voltage grid together with the CLS service provider advalju. By piloting advalju’s aEMT and CLS management platform, Osthessen Netz is digitising its low-voltage network and enabling control via smart metering systems. Together with Volkswagen Group Charging GmbH (Elli), Theben Smart Energy and Heinz Lackmann, advalju has carried out a pilot project for §14a control with EEBUS at Osthessen Netz.
Due to the increasing electromobility in the grid area, the expansion of wallboxes and public charging infrastructure is becoming more and more dynamic. The number of generation units and heat pumps that need to be controlled is also constantly increasing. In order to avoid voltage problems in the low-voltage network and to minimise network expansion, Osthessen Netz is using the pilot to prepare the systematic introduction of control solutions in the network area.
The pilot solution can be used to seamlessly control controllable consumer units (CCU) in the network, such as wall boxes or home energy management systems. The successful pilot not only tested and delivered the connection between the aEMT and the CCU, but also paid particular attention to the installation processes for the new hardware. The BSI-certified value-added module from Theben Smart Energy was used as a space-saving and easy-to-install digital control solution for connection to the new wall boxes from Volkswagen Group Charging GmbH under the Volkswagen, Cupra, Skoda and Elli brands.
