EEBUService GmbH

EEBUService GmbH is the official certification body for EEBUS Certification and the provider of the official EEBUS Tester. 

Who we are

EEBUService GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the EEBus Initiative. This is because two activities need different legal homes: within the EEBus Initiative, the development and promotion of the EEBUS standards in collaboration with its members; within EEBUService GmbH, the independent issuance of the EEBUS Certificate and the licensing of the EEBUS Tester to all interested parties. 

Responsibilities stay separated. The EEBUService GmbH issues the Certificate based on an independent test report. The requirements are set out in test specifications that are published by the EEBus Initiative e.V. and free to download. The EEBUService GmbH also offers the EEBUS Tester. The EEBUS Tester is the official tool used for Certification tests. The EEBUS Tester can also be used to demonstrably speed up your own EEBUS integration or to prepare for Certification in the best possible way. The licence is available to everyone – whether a member of the EEBUS Initiaive or not – but is, of course, not a prerequisite for EEBUS Certification. 

EEBUS Certification

The EEBUService GmbH certifies on behalf of the EEBus Initiative. The roles are clearly separated: the Living Lab Cologne carries out the tests and issues the technical Test Report. Based on that report, the EEBUService GmbH evaluates the documents, issues the Certificate, assigns the Cert-ID including the logo and enters the product into the public EEBUS Certificate Listing.

The EEBUS Tester

The EEBUS Tester is a software tool to subject EEBUS-enabled devices to effective interoperability testing, with over 200 tests at the application level and 80 tests at the protocol level. It is the official EEBUS test tool, licensed by the EEBUService GmbH on a subscription basis. It lets implementers, stack developers and device manufacturers run the official test cases in their own development environment – during development, in testing and for quality assurance. 

The same test cases decide Certification later. Working through them upfront is the most direct way to pass at the first attempt – using the Tester is not a prerequisite for Certification, but it is the best way to prepare for the Certification tests.
