Association & Standardisation
Working Groups
EEBUS members develop the standard together. Working Groups connect domain expertise with Use Cases and Specifications, creating a practical path from market requirements to interoperable solutions.
Introduction
Where member expertise becomes a shared standard
The EEBus Initiative develops specifications in consensus-driven Working Groups. Members contribute market needs, device expertise and implementation experience. The groups translate this input into Use Cases and Specifications for interoperable energy solutions.
The overview below should help members and prospective members understand which group covers their domain, how the groups contribute to standardisation, and where related Use Cases and Specifications can be found.
Grid
The Grid Working Group discusses Use Cases at the interface to the public electricity grid. Its scope includes grid stability, cost optimisation and the acquisition of measurement data. This work involves interfaces with other bodies, including VDE FNN and the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
E-Mobility
The E-Mobility Working Group covers Use Cases for electric mobility, with a focus on those that mirror the functionality of ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20.
HVAC
The HVAC Working Group discusses Use Cases relevant to the heating industry, primarily heat pumps. It focuses on controlling available flexibility and monitoring appliances.
WORKING GROUP 4
Implementation
In the Implementation Working Group, developers of manufacturers’ own EEBUS stacks exchange views on current topics and discuss newly discovered issues. They propose improvements to existing specifications and debate new definitions, with the aim of improving interoperability between EEBUS stacks.

Inverter
The Inverter Working Group develops Use Cases for inverters and their subcomponents, including PV strings and stationary batteries.

Process
Working Groups in the EEBUS process
Every EEBUS member can join the Working Groups relevant to its domain. Within these groups, members contribute market needs, device expertise and implementation experience, and jointly decide which existing Use Cases should be improved and which new Use Cases should be developed.
Each Use Case agreed in a Working Group describes roles, behaviour and coordination in the energy system. It then feeds into the EEBUS Specifications and, from there, into certified interoperable implementations. Members shape the standard directly through their participation.
How to participate
Working Groups are the central place where members shape the EEBUS standard. Participation connects organisations with domain experts and gives them a structured way to contribute requirements, implementation experience and feedback.
